About

To ignite creativity and new perspectives, so that we feel inspired and empowered to share our greatness to build a meaningful world.

Annick Vuissoz is a mixed-media artist. She was born and raised in the mountains of Switzerland, where she learned various traditional textile and woodworking techniques. She grew a strong appreciation for nature, the wilderness, mountains, eternal snows and light, as well as ancestral traditions and transmission of heritage. Through her many travels and professional assignments, she has immersed herself in new landscapes, aesthetics, and appreciates the diversity of the world. She also realized that the simple things are so universal and inspirational. She has been able to combine her love of learning and artistic skills by becoming an Objects Conservator. Through this work she conserves museum artefacts and artworks. As a conservator, she is able to learn about cultural heritage, particularly indigenous traditions and artistry, and experiment with new materials to preserve the integrity of the materials used to craft multi-media objects.

Annick is attracted to various forms of expression, particularly resonating with artforms traditionally labelled as “women’s crafts”, such as fibre and textile art. Her work focuses on the conceptual relationship of these techniques and their function, contrasting the elements intrinsic to these techniques with other materials. She is often inspired by her travels and experiences in different environments. Her experimentation with clear plastics as a medium, aims to evoke the dramatic landscape of Antarctica, where worked for three months. This synthetic material emulates the melting ice, leading to the focus on the effect of light and shadows, as an expression of the intangible. Her interests rooted in nature and textiles carries her through that exploration.

In order to establish herself as an artist and lay the foundation of a committed artistic path, she organized her first solo show in 2018, when living in Sydney, Australia. She has since continued seeking opportunities to share her work with a wider audience. She is now living in New York City and is fulfilling a long-term goal to show her body of work in her dream city. She is thrilled to have come across Ceres Gallery, that gave her a first opportunity to show in New York City in 2020 and connect with a wider artistic community. She has now become Friend Member of Ceres Gallery and will show at the Friends Expo in 2021.

Annick hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams – as her own journey leads to new opportunities.
